The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, July 15, 2025, as a public holiday in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

This was announced by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, following approval from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The holiday comes as part of the ongoing seven-day national mourning period declared to honour the former leader who passed away recently.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo described the holiday as a mark of respect for Buhari’s dedication, integrity, and contributions to Nigeria’s democratic journey and national development. He urged Nigerians to reflect on the late president’s life and uphold the values of unity, peace, and patriotism.

Meanwhile, national flags across the country are flying at half-mast as a symbol of mourning until Saturday, July 20, 2025.

The Federal Government also extended its condolences to the Buhari family, the people of Katsina State, and all Nigerians, praying for the peaceful repose of the late president’s soul.
