Governor Seyi Makinde has approved a ₦10,000 monthly transportation support for civil servants across Oyo State, in a move aimed at easing the burden of rising fuel costs on workers.
The governor announced that the support, which will run for an initial period of three months, is part of his administration’s continued efforts to cushion the economic impact of fuel price hikes and ensure uninterrupted productivity in the state’s public service.
Makinde explained that the intervention is designed to assist workers with daily commuting expenses, thereby enabling them to remain consistent and effective in their duties despite prevailing economic challenges.
He emphasized that the welfare of workers remains a top priority for his government, noting that the initiative aligns with broader strategies to sustain morale and maintain efficiency within the workforce.
The governor further reassured civil servants of his administration’s commitment to implementing policies that directly improve their standard of living while also safeguarding the overall economic stability of the state.
The announcement has been met with positive reactions from workers and stakeholders, many of whom described the gesture as timely and reflective of a responsive and worker-friendly government.
