2027: Accord Southwest Leaders Rally Behind Tinubu’s Re-election, Meet JDS Amid Party’s Legal Uncertainty

Leaders of the ACCORD Party in the Southwest have met with Chief (Engr.) Jubril Dotun Sanusi, the Okanlomo Oodua and Gbonka Olubadan of Ibadanland, to declare their support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

The delegation was led by the ACCORD Southwest Leader, Mogaji Igbinsola Sunday Paul, alongside the Zonal Public Relations Officer, Dr. Babarinde Oye Ademola.

Other members of the delegation included state chairmen of the party: Prince Kolade Ojo (Oyo State), Dr. Smart Afolayan (Ondo State), Mr. Kunle Okunola (Ogun State), and Alhaji Muritadho Adeniji (Ekiti State).

During their separate remarks, the party leaders expressed concerns about the political future of ACCORD ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing ongoing court cases and legal uncertainties surrounding the party’s electoral preparations, particularly in Oyo State.

The leaders’ visit provided an opportunity to discuss the evolving political landscape and explore their next steps ahead of the forthcoming elections.

In his response, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi warmly welcomed the political leaders to the movement supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, describing their decision to join the movement as a welcome development.

He encouraged the delegation to remain patient and allow the judicial process to run its course, particularly regarding the pending court cases involving ACCORD in Oyo State.

On the question of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election, Sanusi advised the leaders to await the outcome of the court cases affecting the party before making definitive political decisions or determining their next course of action.

He stressed the importance of allowing the legal process to reach its conclusion before engaging in further discussions about the state’s governorship contest.

The meeting underscores the ongoing political consultations and realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, as political stakeholders continue to assess their options and consider strategic partnerships.
