With the win, their position at the top of the log remains unchanged but means Nnewi United is still firmly stuck in Group B1 mid-table purgatory.

3SC started the game off in their usual fashion, moving the ball around with purpose and probing the Nnewi United whistle as soon as the game began. With their level of dominance, it was no surprise when star striker Gafar Olafimihan had the first good chance, which he uncharacteristically put wide.

The game continued in that vein as the hosts camped out in the opposing half, playing some very good football. With that level of pressure, the away team eventually panicked and gave away a penalty. In a shocking turn, the Nnewi United players and officials believed they had been cheated with the decision and stopped the game for over 20 minutes with the Nnewi United Coach ordering his players off the pitch at a point.

The decision stood and the penalty was taken when the Nnewi players agreed to resume the game. Despite the pressure, Gafar Olafimihan coolly converted to give his team a 1-0 lead. The referee blew his whistle for halftime soon after to end a controversial 45 minutes of football.

The second half resumed with 3SC picking up where they left off by dominating the game. This sustained pressure led to another early goal as well with Malomo Ayodeji this time scoring to double the lead for the hosts.

Stung, the visitors pressed forward and began to fashion out chances of their own and giving the Oluyole Boys something to worry about. Showing that fortune indeed favors the brave, they soon pulled one back with a stupendous free-kick.

Buoyed by the goal, Nnewi United tried to press forward and rescue an unlikely point or even a win but it was not to be as 3SC wasted time with some changes. In the end, 3SC won 2-1, Getting revenge for their 1-0 loss in March.
