Making law, Performing oversight functions and given back to the Constituencies in terms of projects and programmes are the roles of the Federal House of Representative Members.The Parliamentarians are defenders and the watchdog of the aspirations, Ideals and the Collective will of the People. More so, the Legislative is a veritable Instrument for promoting good governance, effective representation and to checkmate the activities of both the Executive and the Judiciary arms of government.


Each State is expected to have Representatives from each Constituency that would represent and promote the interest of the Constituents at the Federal level. The idea is to bring government closer to the people and to promote good governance through prompt responsiveness to the plight of the people.

As earlier affirmed, each House of Representatives is expected to have embarked on impacting projects that would benefit the Constituents with resources at his/her disposal.


Upon this, a painstaking survey was conducted to rate the performances of the 14 Federal Parliamentarians duly elected to represent Oyo State Federal Constituency in their first democratic year in office.

In a report by TODAYSPLASH who Conducted a painstaking survey to rate this Parliamentarians. Noted that the ratings are purely based on Human capital development this Honorables were able to carry out over the last one year in office.

This rating is however based on the activities of these Parliamentarians as it meet the needs of the people they are representing.

That said, this rating would help to guild public discourse, Consciensitized the public on projects, plans and programmes of these Parliamentarians, and above all, engender the spirit of competitive between and among the Parliamentarians.


To arrived at this, Todaysplash.com cross-examined the numbers of completed projects, human development programs( employment and empowerments) and the like, done by each of these lawmakers with a clear purpose of seeing how these projects have been able to addressed the pressing challenges bedeviled their Constituencies.

After thorough scrutiny, a selection of Top 5 was made based on their performances. Here are the names of the Top 5 most Performing House of Representatives members in Oyo.

Hon. Prince Akinremi Olaide (Jagaban)

Hon Akinremi of the All Progressives Congress is representing the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

Over the last one year, We reckon that the pragmatic leadership offered by him has produced unsurpassable achievements particularly on human capital development- ensuring Financial Independence and individual sustainability for his Constituents.

Hon. Akinremi Olaide’s undeniable achievement was his capability to provide decent paying jobs for over 60 graduates in his Constituency with 365 days in Office despite Legal tussle that almost ruined his first year in Office.

In an effort to curb the specter of unemployment particularly among graduates in his Constituency, the federal Lawmaker facilitated Federal government job for about over 60 graduates in his Constituency and that of 125 Constituents into Telecommunication Sector.

This giant stride do not only reveal his undeniable passion to the Youths engaged, but to ensure the Youth Contribute largely to the Gross Domestic Product of any Country. engaged but ensure financial Independence of his Constituents.

Worthy of Appreciation is the empowerment of 15 Constituents with Vehincles for Transportation business. Likewise, the cash assistance of over of #26 million to various beneficiaries in form of school fees, rents, dues and bills. In addition to that, he expended food and needs worth #4.6 to the Vulnerable groups.

He also Facilitated Financial grants to over 200 market women within the Constituency. Facilitated CBN loan for SMEs (Submitted to CBN already).
The Construction of modern Health Care Center at Agbaje Ijokodo, Oke Apon, UCH project copied the championing of Lassa fever and coronavirus sensitization with distribution of relief materials to constituents with over 5,000 families reached with food reliefs and over 15,000 Nose Masks distributed plus payment of over #100 million medical bills on behalf of financially stranded constituents at various hospitals are proofs that health State of his Constituents is his focal concern.
We applaud his doggedness in the area of Education and Agriculture. Through his Prince Akinremi Foundation (PAF) , he organized tutorials for over 6,000 WASSCE and UTME students, distributed over 1000 JAMB and over 200 NECO forms to indigent students in the Constituency. In Agriculture, the lawmaker Facilitated Agricultural empowerment settlement for over 7000 beneficiaries in the Cooperative for Commercial and Industrial Agriculture program of the CBN and Federal Ministry of Finance.(Submitted for processing). He also Facilitated a Cassava processing plant.

History might not be kind to us if we failed to include the Facilitation of free Vocational Trainings at Prince Akinremi Foundation (PAF), with 3100 beneficiaries recorded. Likewise, the facilitation of Large borehole (2) with 9 pumps capacity with land space to sight it a current challenge.

Apart from projects, empowerment and the like embarked not been bothered by the legal tussle that characterised the first year, We deeply acknowledge his active role for co-sponsored The Out of School Children bill. This bill would help to salvage the stress crawling of out Of school children.

It was reported that Nigeria has over a million out of school children which donot except his Constituents. Other bills and motion co-sponsoredt are; Infectious Diseases Bill, Local Content Bill , Provision of Coronavirus Emergency Fund for Nigerian Universities and Tertiary Institutions, working assiduously alongside other members of the house committee on Emergency and Disaster Preparedness in the management and distribution of relief items.

Hon (Mrs) Tolulope Sadipe


Sadipe is an All Progressive Congress Lawmaker representing Oluyole Federal Constituency. Her brilliant and outstanding performances in terms projects that addressed cogent challenges in her Constituency made a way for her to be second most Performing Oyo House of Representatives lawmaker for the last one year. Her achievement spanned across virtually all the areas of human endeavors.

We applaud her for her commendable initiatives particularly on the area of Infrastructural development, the construction and renovation of Schools e.g Temidire Agbamu Model Secondary School, Construction of Public Toilet facilities for Ara-Oje Community Primary School, She Flagged off the construction of additional 3 – classroom buildings in Alaho Grammar School and Ayegun/Oleyo Primary School, Rehabilitation of Health Care facilities e.g. Baare Health Centre, She facilitated the approval of some road projects in her constituency. Rehabilitation of community social facilities.

Hon. Sadipe’s Empowerment Initiatives particular among women and Youths is an ample evidence that her performance is too obvious to not be recognized. She has
empowered over 500 women and youths in various competencies. As a way of boosting the SME businesses in her Constituency, She distributed deep freezer to constituency, donated materials to Lako Community for the construction of the bridge linking Lako and Abeku community together.

As part of her effort to fulfill her campaign promise of Improving system of education in a Constituency, Hon. Sadipe has funded educational supporting programmes. Notable amongst them are; Facilitation of N25million Scholarship Scheme for Undergraduates Sponsored Sporting events and Sporting viewing centers, Remedial tutoring classes for Secondary school Students, sponsorship of Students for the West African Examination Council Exams and the National Examination Council Exams, facilitated Book drive to set up a Study Center and Teenage Book Club

Her other laudable achievements that must be underscored include; employment of 20 constituents and facilitated Federal appointment for several others, Fund-raising drive for a loan scheme for Agriculture Initiatives and Female SME’s Empowerment, fundraising drive for the Abdul Mojeed Olalekan Akande Youth Empowerment and Training Initiative, Facilitated the workshop on Agricultural Products Conformity Assessment and Certification in conjunction with Nicert Expert, Sponsoring of Medical Outreach programs & distribution of free medicines for constituents. Her Contribution to her Constituency during the heat of Convid-19 can’t be underemphasized. She Provided Hand Sanitizers in markets across Oluyole Federal Constituency, Provided Pandemic Water Relief to locations in Oluyole and lastly, Covid 19 Pandemic cash relief to constituents.

  • Donated Plasma Televisions to the new Elesu Atagba Police Station. Other projects she facilitated are Flag-off of the rehabilitation of 200m Odo-Ono Elewe Road (Taska), spearheaded The ANDP project which delivers 5000 low cost houses practically free, 1000 of which are situated in Oluyole, conceptualized the development of an Agro Marketing Hub Oja Ibadan, on the Lagos Ibadan Express way to facilitate the marketing of Agro products.
  • Initiated the inclusion of Oyo state in the Federal Government TTP scheme and ensured approval for a TTP point here in Oluyole and others.

Her Legislative Roles are summarized below; Amendment of a motion to tackle sexual harassment of children and minors, Amendment of a motion on the issue of insecurity in Zamfara state to be all inclusive across the Nation, She moved the Motion on the need to ascertain Nigeria in Diaspora remittances and its impact on the nation’s economy, Motion on the need to release abused Nigerian women in Lebanon prevented from returning home, Contributed at the National Assembly on the Issue of Xenophobia, and urged the Federal Government to create additional air lifting opportunities to evacuate our citizens who are stranded in South Africa, Contributed at the National Assembly on the recent increase in the spate of sexual violence against women & girls and many others.

Hon. Abass A. Adigun

Hon. Abass A. Adigun P.K.A Agboworin of the People’s Democratic Party emerged as the Third most Performing Honorable at the Federal level. He was chosen by the good people of Ibadan North-East and Ibadan South-East local Government area, on the Inimitable Agenda” in 2019 to the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.


It is worth to note that Hon Abass A. Adigun (Agboworin) would have been the first in the list of most performing federal lawmakers due to his outstanding performance but we observed that he didn’t perform too well on Employment, electricity, Health and other sensitive areas as its affect his Constituents.

In fact, there was no record of direct, or to have facilitated any employment for his constituents to any decent paying private organization or government in the last one year. But however, his performance in all others is well recognized and appreciated.

EDUCATION
Hon. Abass A. Adigun has shown his commitment to better education in Ibadan North East/Ibadan South-East federal constituency. Being the only Lawmaker who continued his free holiday coaching with free writing materials for senior secondary school students (SS2 & SS3) in all year round for the two local governments in his constituency, Ibadan North-East and Ibadan South-East Local Government in Oyo State. He Obtained the last jamb forms for 200 students in 2020 where over 30 students scored above 200 points. Also, one of the Candidates scored 306 marks making him one of the first ten in Oyo State. Distribution of scholarship forms to students of tertiary institutions which was on going at his Constituency office at Eleta Academy, Ibadan for indigenes students of Ibadan South-East/North East federal constituency until the outbreak of Covid-19. The scholarship is One Hundred Thousand (N100,000.00) per student, strictly for those that meet all the qualifications and the form is free.

Another area where he has demonstrated his care and concern for the people is security. He demonstrated this by erecting security gates in about four different communities under his constituency. These include; the Alake Academy Community, Kajola Irede Academy, Oni-Garri Junction Lagos-Ibadan Express way and Idi Odo Challenge beside UBA Bank Felele/ Olorunsogo community.

INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT

We can boldly say that the reason why Hon. Abass Adigun emerged as one of the forefront Federal Lawmakers was his indelible impacts he has made on the infrastructural development of his Constituency. The Constructions of Drainage system in communities under his constituency, Donation and commissioning 50million worth project which includes classroom, toilets, staff rooms and I.C.T center in I.C.A.G.S, Ongoing construction of Oke-badan High School field in Ibadan North East Local Government to an international standard to develop our grassroots sporting and social activities, Donation generator set to security post of the main entrance of National Assembly as well as repairs of Borehole and lights, Distribution of relief materials and sensitization on sensitive areas in his Constituency which Including Fresh FM and Lagelu FM.

YOUTH AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

As a way of curbing the specter of unemployment in his Constituency, he organised agro mechanized Agric Business training and empowerment for over 120 youths and women of Ibadan North East/South East federal constituency which included theory and practicals.

A 4-day training programme which included a trip to Ilaji Farms was organized as participants were taken through the basics of poultry, fishery and farming. Each participants was given #50,000 (Fifty Thousand Naira) to start up a business or establish themselves in their chosen agro-mechanized business. During the Eid El Fitri festival, Lawmaker Abass A. Adigun (Agboworin) purchased chicken from one of the participants who had birds ready for sale during the festival period.

These over 120 youths have learnt how to fish, organized empowerment for over 50 women within Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South-East federal constituency, more of the women empowerment schemes still coming, Sponsored youths and women on trainings, empowerment and self sufficiency at different institutes majoring in Agric-business, vocational trainings like tailoring, Soap making, small scale business, make-up artist, computer studies and sporting activities etc, not minding others he had recommended for jobs/admissions at various institutions which includes secured job for two people from my constituency, one person from Ibadan South East while the other from Ibadan North East, One FCT and the other is enlisted in Nigeria Army.

The trade school for six months schedule programme is underway as the training center to be used is ready and registration is ongoing now. The training will be on the following trade jobs: Tailoring, Barbing, Hair Dressing, Tiling and Computers and on graduating, basic equipment for all graduates will be provided to start the job.

POWER SUPPLY
Power supply is one pressing challenge in some Communities under his watch, to salvage this, he Provided Financial Support for the purchase and Installation of vidar poles to replace the old ones in Odinjo Community and Kobomoje Community. Repairs transformers in some communities under his Constituency.

SPORT DEVELOPMENT/ HEALTH
Provided football training materials like balls, jersey’s and bib’s of different colours, training cones. Sponsored some for trials to different football teams and clubs, Agboworin football club, the junior team represented Oyo State at Lagos State under 13 football competition and won the Gold Medal, Assisting families with cash in Ibadan North East and Ibadan South East on the treatment of their children.

MOTIONS/AMENDMENT OF BILLS
Unlike Some, Hon. Abass Adigun didn’t go to Federal House of Representatives to sleep or to help others chorused their ideas. He move and co-sponsored bills and motions on pertinent issues affecting his Constituents and the Country at large. Notable among them are; He and Hon. Ajibola Muraina jointly sponsored motion on Inferno (fire) that occurred in his constituency, Orita Aperin market and petrol tanker at Onipepeye that claim one person life. He moved the Motion on the need for relevant security agencies to bring to an end the spare of oblivious kidnapping, armed banditry and killing across the country. He proposed an amendment bill on the motion moved on the floor of the house on COVID-19 to close all the schools but my motion amendment was to increase all the Man-Power on all our Port of entry into our Country Such as Land, Sea and Airport to have 24hrs working for proper and accurate checking on people coming into our country, it serve as create job opportunities for youths, he moved the motion on proper provision and welfare packages of our security personnels in Nigeria such as Police, Navy, Airforce, Civil defense, DSS, SSS, Army, FRSC, custom officer and many More. This will enable them to perform their duties better and more diligently and many others which include oversight functions.

Hon. Oluyemi Adewale Taiwo


Hon Oluyemi Adewale of the People’s Democratic Party is a Lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency. Hon. Taiwo is a silent achiever, a grassroots mobiliser. His contribution spanned across the nocks and crannies of his Constituency.

He embarked on projects that solved the pressing challenges of people at the grassroots level. Notable are provision of motorized borehole with modern water filter at Awotan Araromi Community High School, Ward 4 of Apete, Ido Local Government, one at opposite Pathfinder Hospital, Lanlate ward 7 of Ibarapa East. Another one at Itabo, Lanlate ward 10 of Ibarapa East.

The Construction of A block of 3-class room fully furnished with modern furniture for pupils and Teachers at Ward 3 of Isaba Baptist Primary school, Eruwa of Ibarapa East. Another block of 3-class room fully furnished with modern furniture for pupils and Teachers at St. Michael Primary school, Aborerin, Ward 4 of Eruwa of Ibarapa East. (ongoing 2019 project).

On Electricity, He facilitated the Powerline Sub-station at Lagaye junction, Lanlate. The project when completed will supply electricity to Ibarapa axis and its environs, will attract investors which will boost the economy activities of the area.

On Sport Activities, he organized a friendly match between the football team of Ibarapa East LG and Ido LG in order to promote sporting activities in the area and also to discover future Football talents. Facilitated the Hosting Right of The Second Edition of 2020 African Mini Football Nations Cup to Oyo State were 20 African Nations Mini Football National Teams will participate and the First Omi-Titun Inter Local Governments where 40 LGs/LCDAs Oyo State Teams will also participate.

In his own little way of given back to his people, he did series of charity works both physical cash in order to boost their small trades. Covid-19 Preventive Materials and Food Palliatives were given to my constituents in order to cushion the negative effects of the ongoing covid-19 Pandemic, he facilitated 250 Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) slots of under Federal Government Poverty Alleviation Program, 250 beneficiaries of National Home Grown School Feeding (PNHGSF) program and 60 N-Power slots for my constituents. The lists have been submitted for further processing action. On his personal effort, he recommended his Constituents for jobs both at government and private establishments and sponsored two of his constituents for the 2019 Pilgrimage to the Holy Land

Apart from projects and empowerment, he contributed in no small measure by sponsoring motions and Bills on issues that affect the Country. He moved a Motion on the floor of the House on the ” need to caution Officers of the Federal Road Safety Commission from engaging motorists in Hot Chase on Highways,” where I cited some deadly examples of some incidents across Oyo state (Ogbomoso-Ilorin road on 8th February, 2020 and Moniya area incidents of Ibadan on 13th of April, 2019 both which led to loss of lives and properties.

In like manner, he co-sponsored Motion a motion to curb the excess of the Fulani herdsmen in Ibarapa area of Oyo State by Hon. Ajibola Muraina, South-West Economic Development Commission Bill, a bill that when passed into law will act as a catalyst to develop the commercial and industrial potentials of the South West region as well as receive and manage funds from allocation of the federation for development of the region particularly for agricultural and industrial development of the region. Others bills and motions are in pipeline submitted to be listed on the House of Reps order paper for Legislative delebrations. Among other motions is the ” need to investigate the abandoned NITEL earth Satilite Station in Lanlate, Oyo State.” As a member of House of Reps Adhoc committee on abandoned Federal government project, I have taken step to making sure the said NITEL project is included in the first phase of the visitation for Legislative action and others oversight functions.

Hon Akin Alabi of the All Progressives Congress is a Federal lawmaker representing Egbeda/Ona Ara federal Constituency. For the past one year, he has recorded multiple success in welfare, legislative duties, infrastructure and human capital development. Hon Akin Alabi has proven beyond doubt to his people that he is not just elected to fill a position but has given himself to fighting for the course of his Constituency.

Welfare:

Launched a 250m Women empowerment scheme to provide financial support to women of all ages in Egbeda/Ona Ara as well as skill acquisition for young women, improved access to better reproductive healthcare and education.

Community support:

Donated over 10m to different communities for primary health care, transformer purchase, road construction and schools. Some of these communities are: Akanle community Ward 10 (Transformer), Kure community (Bridge), Jellico community (Primary health care), Agbaja/Opelu/Ajoyiba community (Transformer), Compensation for the victims of Iwo Road Market demolition.

Covid-19 Palliatives
At the outset of the pandemic, He donated food and hygiene products across Egbeda and Ona Ara including cash grants on Facebook, Twitter and Radio stations.

Youth Empowerment programs
Training, certification  and capacity building for 200 local young people

Business Support- Provided cash grants to different local businesses.

Facilitated conditional Cash transfer to 150 beneficiaries in the Federal constituency. Facilitated assistance of constituents who applied for the Central Bank assisted Microfinance loans for COVID-19 support to businesses.

Employment
He nominated of 40 NPower beneficiaries In Egbeda and Ona Ara, nominated 40 Sure-P beneficiaries in Egbeda and Ona Ara, 50 Letters of recommendation for various residents applying for Federal jobs.

Infrastructure:
He focused on helping different communities bridge the infrastructural gap, we made donations to communities that are already building or helped them build from the scratch. He continued the building of a sports complex at the Urban Day Grammar School. That would give local talents access to modern facilities, Donated medical equipment and cash grants for Gelico community for their primary health care, Donated Transformers and cash for electricity equipments in communities like Agbaja/Opelu/Ayinjoba and Akanle communities of Egbeda LGA.

Better Call Akin
He launched a legal aid scheme called Better Call Akin to provide free legal support to people in our constituency, who find themselves at the mercy of the law or civil disputes and do not have the means to resolve them. We have provided legal services on issues like police harassment, illegal detention, students rights, employment and employee rights. With the help of his lawyers, he was able to resolve several cases with 72 beneficiaries so far. Some of them are:Mr Azeez Adelokun of Gbagi market area who was tear gassed and arrested by the police during a community raid. We got him bailed and also made the police refund the initial bail, Secured the release of a 16 year old Sunday Elijah at the magistrate court for illegal detention and malicious prosecution, Assisted 11 ex employees of a cocoa processing company in the recovery of their unpaid salaries and pension contributions, all the employees are indigent citizens, Secured the release of Mr Mutiu Aderemi and a host of others.

Legislative Duties

He introduced a new bill to alternate the discriminatory part of the Nigerian constitution that prevents Nigerian women from passing their citizenship on to their foreign spouses.
Bill for amendment of the Criminal Justice Act (2015) Hon. Akin Alabi Moved the Motion to restrain AMCON from harassing online businesses, Motion against the duplicity of roles of the Nigerian Customs that leads to the overzealous attitude of their officers. He argued in support of the addition of the June 12 struggle to public school curriculums, he argued against the creation of several new agencies that will increase the cost of Governance, he moved the motion on the need to establish more road side clinics and improve the facilities in the existing ones to curb the rate of road traffic accidents and others.

Above all, We see the need to spell it out that non-inclusion of some names don’t necessarily means they didn’t perform at all, it simply means that their performance didn’t meet up the required Standard has spelled out earlier.
