The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ibadan less city in Oyo state comprising 6 local government areas namely; Lagelu, Egbeda, Ona-ara, Akinyele, Oluyole, and Ido have unanimously endorsed Governor Seyi Makinde for a second term of office.

Arising from the Ibadan less city meeting which held at the Ibadan residence of a PDP chieftain and former Commissioner in the state, Chief Oribayo Okeyode, on 5th of January, 2021, the party expressed satisfaction at the performance of Governor Makinde and the unique ways he is managing COVID-19 in the state.

According to the communique signed by Engr Akeem Olatunji, the ruling party, Ibadan less city chapter commended Makinde for his landmark achievements across all sectors, including completion of most abandoned projects by last administration thereby reducing wastage and improving the quality of life in the state.

The communique reads:

Communique issued at the end of the monthly meeting of Ibadan less city leadership forum of People Democratic Party after a critical and painstaking examination of the performance of the governor.

  1. The forum noted with satisfaction the brilliant performance of our governor since his assumption of office.
  2. The forum noted with the ingenious way the governor is managing the control and containment of the covid 19 Pandemic in Oyo state without serious collateral damage to the economy and people of Oyo state.
  3. The forum noted with pride and satisfaction the pragmatic manners the governor handled the issue of ownership of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) with his Osun State counterpart that resulted in the transfer of ownership of the university to Oyo state thus ending the controversy and confusion that had hindered the growth of the university and their collateral damage on the students and the staff of the university.
  4. The bold and innovative manner the governor handled the development of infrastructure in the state through alternative funding system.
  5. Commended the government of Oyo State and the 33 local governments and 35 LCDAs for the laudable projects being put in place across the nooks and cranies of the state.
  6. Commended the governor on the reconstruction and remodelling of Lekan Salami Sports Complex Adamashingba, the rehabilitation and remodelling of Agbowo Shopping Complex and others that had remained moribund over the years.
  7. Noted with satisfaction the untiring efforts of the governor to holistically develop the state as reflected in the monumental infrastructural development going on in different parts of Oke Ogun zones of the state.
  8. Noted with dismay the legal entanglement that had delayed the effective take off of the Circular Road which had the enormous potential to open up the zone to the social and economic opportunities usually associated with such gigantic project. The leaders therefore called on the governor to quickly resolve the legal imbroglio so that the project can takeoff without further delay.
  9. The forum cannot but agree that current security situation in Oyo State is the spill over effect of the general insecurity in the nation. The forum therefore implores the governor to continue in his usual manner to mobilise security agencies to combat the menace of criminals and their sponsors. The forum commended the governor for the decentralisation of the operations of Operation Burst and adequate funding for Amotekun Corps that are complementing the efforts of men of Nigeria Police which is a right step in the right direction.
  10. Noted with satisfaction the efforts of the governor to reconcile with the aggrieved leaders of the party and commended the governor for pursuing the part of peace.
  11. All these achievements did not make the establishment of a security outfit codenamed ‘Amotekun’ less important as security is the precursor to economic and social developments in any modern society.

Whilst we are pleased with these achievements, we cannot but draw the attention of our governor to the lack and decay of social and economic infrastructures in the rural areas of the state, particularly the towns and villages that make up the Ibadan less city zone.

We cannot but express gratitude to the governor on the appointment of some of our members from the zone most especially our chairman, Alhaji Oribayo Okeyode.
However, given the size and population of the zone that consists of three federal constituencies, six state constituencies and almost more than half of the central senatorial district we cannot but appeal to the Governor to favour us with more appointments.

Finally, we pledge our loyalty and unflinching support to the party, PDP, and Governor Seyi Makinde in the task of taking Oyo state to the promised Land as envisioned by the governor.

In attendance at the meeting are party Leaders, stakeholders and State Executives Members amongst whom are the Chairman of PDP Ibadan Less City Forum, Elder Oribayo Okeyode (Lagelu), Alh Adebiyi (Akinyele), Prince Lasunkanmi Salami (Oluyole), Alh Adurodekun (Ona-Ara), Hon Busari Olayemi (Egbeda), PDP State Women Leader, Alhaja Chief Wulemat Wunmi Ibitoye, PDP State Financial Secretary, Hon Hakeem Arinola, PDP State PRO, Engr Akeem Olatunji, State Ex-Officio, Hon Sabitu Malik and State Ex-Officio, Mrs Yemisi Ogunbiyi, Secretary Less City Forum, Hon Fabiyi
