Romeo And Juliet In Yorùbá Set For Ibadan Stage

The theatre and performance art culture in Ibadan has evolved over the years, to produce phenomenal individuals and groups who continue to contribute diligently to the art space in Nigeria and beyond.

As the legacy continues, Ayo Adams, a graduate of the Performing Arts from the University of Ilorin is another individual whose significant impact on the art and cultural space in Ibadan cannot be underemphasized.

Recently, he adapted the epic, William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to Yorùbá and this work, is now on its way to debut on Stage, on the 12th of September 2021 at the Wole Soyinka Theatre, University of Ibadan.

The stage play is directed by Emmanuel Orisunmibare— Resident director of Stage Alive, a theatre outfit committed to building a community of theatre lovers across Nigeria and beyond.
