The Concerned Elders Caucus of Oyo East Local Government People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has warned the former Director General (DG) Atiku Campaign Organization in Oyo State, Hon Akinwande Maroof to stop fanning the ember of discord and disunity amoung members of the party.
It will be recalled that, Hon Akinwande destroyed PDP and left for ADC in 2019 to contest for House of Representatives, but God shamed him and he returned back to the party he destroyed to contest as usual again in 2023, but because of magnanimity of His Excellency, he appointed him as Chairman, Water Corporation and a position he recorded no single achievement.
Now, some questions are begging for answers from a politician who chooses destruction of a party as his style.
Firstly, when has your Campaign Office turn to Party office to declare an ADC Chairmanship aspirant who declined party invitation as a consencus candidate?
Secondly, you were a beneficiary of the Party Structure in 2003 you contested for House of Representatives, why do you want to break the general meeting of the party and it’s executive members into two with your bouguos money of Atiku you pocketed during the campaign.
Again, why do you want to reap from where you did not sow this time around, because you worked against the re- election of Governor Seyi Makinde in spite that, you campaigned that, Seyi Makinde worked against your principal, Atiku Abubakar and you and your co travellers voted for Teslim Folarin and Yinus Akintunde which was a public news.
In a statement by Mr Fatokun Ojekunle and Elder Hamzat Yekeen Kolade and made available to the Party and press after their meeting, they warn Hon Akinwande Maroof to follow the path of honour of the likes of Hon Kamil Akinlabi, Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka, Chief Tunde Ologburo, Dr Oyeleke Idowu and Hon Busoye Ogunlade as elder statesmen in Oyo Federal Constituency than using his resources, Office and unguided utterances in the viral video clip to polarise the party.
The Concerned Elders also appealed to other leaders who are joining the trend with Hon Akinwande Maroof to allow peace to continue to reign in the party because the issue of Chairmanship primaries will come and go and the party will remain because it is not only in Oyo East that aspirants are contesting.
