Fayose’s Behaviour Linked To Use of Hard Drugs -VIG

The Value and Integrity Group (VIG), has attributed Governor Ayo Fayose’s erratic behaviour to the use of hard drugs.
The group said the attack on prominent people by the Ekiti State governor is as a result of his penchant for disrespecting senior citizens, due to his occasional mental instability.

In an open letter signed by its Coordinator and Secretary, Sina Odugbemi and Popoopla Ajayi, the group said: “We owe it a duty to let Nigerians know that Fayose is not mentally stable.”

“In a report of investigation conducted by the State Security Service on the politically motivated killings in Ekiti State from 2003 – 2006, it was found that Governor Ayo Fayose was always on drugs. According to the report, he is said to be a user of hard drugs which make him to be highly unpredictable, and might have been responsible for some of his irrational acts,” it said.

According to the group, the detailed report of the SSS which linked Mr. Fayose with narcotics and murder of several persons was tendered and admitted by the Ekiti State High Court in a libel suit instituted by him against the Independent Network Communications Limited (publishers of The News magazine). In dismissing the suit, the trial judge held that Mr Fayose has no reputation worthy of protection by any court of law.

The group added: “Governor Fayose’s disrespect for senior citizens is legendary. It is public knowledge that he has been excessively rude to Chief Afe Babalola, SAN; Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, late president, General Mohhammadu Buhari and several other leaders.

On the maltreatment of his father, the SSS found that Oluwayose (pastor), the governor’s father, gave a brief in 1995 to Emmanuel Chambers to restrain Ayo Fayose from further assaulting him over a change in his marital status. He once put his father in his car boot.

“Having sufficiently embarrassed the members of his family, his elder brother, Mr Segun Fayose issued statement last month, where he dissociated and distanced himself from the irresponsible behaviour of Governor Ayo Fayose.”

To buttress its point, the group quoted an excerpt from a Daily Post Newspaper publication of March 23 which was credited to Segun Fayose.
He said: “It is a pity Nigerians are celebrating criminals. I am angry with Nigerians for electing somebody like Ayodele as governor. As a result of Fayose’s attitude, many people believe that Fayose family is rude, but it is far from the truth. I have spoken to him many times, but he refused to listen. Buhari and Obasanjo are old enough to be his father and I don’t know why he should be rude to them.”

Fayose’s statements are often deemed insincere and lack verification. He’s also been criticized for mistreating his mother, with siblings describing him as an unserious family member.
