Hon. Akeem Ayoade, Vice Chairman of Ibadan North and the Political Head of Aare Latosa LCDA, has expressed profound gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde, Otunba Seye Famojuro, the Oyo State People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and the entire Prince Akinremi Olajide (PAJ) political family for their show of love, support, and respect for the late Member of the House of Representatives for Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Prince Musiliudeen Akinremi Olajide, popularly known as Jagaban, who passed away on July 10, 2024.

Hon. Ayoade commended the exemplary show of unity and respect by Governor Seyi Makinde, who personally went to Ibadan International Airport to receive the late Akinremi’s body. He noted that this gesture, especially from a governor who belongs to a different political party, highlighted Makinde’s commitment to politics of love and unity, rather than bitterness.

“The entire world watched as our sitting governor, despite his busy schedule, journeyed to the airport to receive the remains of my political leader, benefactor, and a man dedicated to improving the lives of the common man,” Ayoade said. He emphasized that such actions reflect Makinde’s practice of inclusive politics, devoid of animosity, and acknowledge the important role Akinremi played in representing his constituency, which houses the state government Secretariat, Government House, and the governor’s residence.

Hon. Ayoade also extended his appreciation to other political figures and stakeholders, including the ALGON Chairman, local government chairmen, state appointees, and PDP politicians, who all came out in large numbers to honor Akinremi. Their presence, he said, was a testament to the unity and respect that transcends political affiliations.

He specially thanked Otunba Seye Famojuro, Governor Makinde’s ally, for his unwavering support to the Akinremi political family, ensuring that all necessary arrangements were made for Akinremi’s internment. Ayoade praised Famojuro as a leader who has groomed many youths in the state, leading by example.

In his statement, Ayoade also took the opportunity to call out the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akinremi’s party, for failing to show the desired respect to a man who had been a beacon for the party during his lifetime. He reminded everyone that while death is inevitable, the way one impacts lives and treats others is what truly matters.

Ayoade reaffirmed the support of Akinremi’s political family for Governor Makinde’s administration, expressing confidence that the governor’s achievements will continue to align with the ideals of the late Akinremi and benefit his political family.

He concluded by urging everyone to pray for Akinremi’s peaceful repose and to maintain peaceful coexistence, regardless of provocations, honoring the legacy of their late leader.
