A major political breakthrough may have just been sealed within the ranks of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State.
With the clock ticking towards a crucial internal deadline, strong indications suggest that party leaders have quietly reached a far-reaching agreement capable of reshaping the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 elections.
Though details remain tightly guarded, insiders describe the development as a decisive compromise aimed at restoring balance, addressing regional concerns, and strengthening unity within the party.
Sources reveal that intense consultations across major blocs have produced what appears to be a near-final zoning formula, one that redistributes key positions across strategic zones in a calculated move to avoid internal crises.
While party leaders are yet to make any official statement, momentum continues to build around the arrangement, with many within the party already aligning with the emerging structure.
Details of the agreement are now filtering in…
According to credible sources, the Party Chairmanship has been zoned to Ibadan, while Oke-Ogun is set to produce the Governorship candidate. The Deputy Governorship position is also expected to return to Ibadan.
Further breakdown shows Oyo North Senatorial ticket going to Ogbomoso, with both Oyo South and Oyo Central remaining in Ibadan. The Speaker of the House of Assembly is zoned to Oyo, while Ibarapa is projected to produce the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
Additionally, Ogbomoso is favoured for the Chief of Staff role, while Oke-Ogun is expected to produce the Deputy Chief of Staff.
The agreement, if confirmed, could mark a turning point in the PDP’s preparations for 2027.
