Don’t Send Makinde on Important Errand again, His Political Clout is Weak – Oyo APC group tells PDP

A group of All Progressive Congress in Oyo State known as the Oyo progressives Forum, has congratulated the governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, having been declared winner of the just concluded gubernatorial election in the State by Independence National Electoral Commission on Sunday.

In a statement by its Chairman, Com. Kola Aderoju and Secretary, Com. Fatai Akanmu, the group lashed the Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde on his involvement in the election. The group describe him as a person who Political clout is weak who is trying to overestimate his Political pedegrees.

Said OPF: “Governor Makinde seemed to have forgotten how he emerged, after years of toiling, which saw him lose everywhere, including his polling unit, in previous electoral contests, only to be helped, in 2019, by a coalition of forces.”

“Isn’t it funny, that such a lightweight politician, who rode to stardom on the back of divine intervention, human assistance, and fate, would then be at the forefront of building political empire, beginning from the Southwest.”

“Isn’t that akin to someone who hasn’t even settled down sitting, trying to stretch his legs?”

The group further urged Governor Makinde to bury his face in utter shame as his Political amateurish has led to failure of his party in Ondo and Kogi State.

“Imagine Governor Makinde holding a press conference, shouting himself hoarse that he’s rejecting a non-existent appointment of Prof Eyitope Ogunbodede, Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, as Chief Returning Officer, when he should know, as a member of the Council of State, that INEC would never do such,” OPF queried.

“We urge the PDP, not to bother sending Makinde, whose political clout is weak, connections limited, and grasp of the dynamics of electoral contests poor, on such important errands again. After all, their experience in both Kogi and Ondo, should now teach them that the Oyo governor clearly lacks the capacity for such important exercise. Though we’re disinterested in the success of the PDP, nonetheless, we owe it a duty to politics, to inform it of current realities in the nation’s political climate, since premodial sentiments would’ve blinded the party to such an obvious truth,” OPF submitted.

“If PDP hopes to have any impactful performance in the 2022 Osun State governorship election, which we pray against though, it better look beyond Makinde. If not, it should be prepared for a worse outing than the Kogi and Ondo outings,” OPF averred.

The group therefore advised Makinde to concentrate on the “baby steps governance” he’s been offering Oyo State, instead of “seeking to extend tentacles that are obviously out of his reach”.
