A FORMER deputy vice chancellor (Academic) of the University of Ibadan (UI), Professor Adigun Agbaje, has been reportedly kidnapped.

Agbaje, who is currently on sabbatical at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, was returning to Ibadan at about 6pm on Friday when kidnappers blocked his way near Guru Maharaji village, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. It was learnt that he was among those kidnapped around the area.

The Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) reported that the kidnappers have contacted the family and demanded N50 million ransom.

Agbaje is a professor of Political Science and one of the UI’s most respected products.

The Oyo State Police Command could not confirm that Agbaje was among the abductees.
