“I Ask Makinde If He Wants An Election Or Selection” Isiaka Olagunju Reveals Why He Accepted OYSIEC Role

Chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, Isiaka Olagunju, says he asked Governor Seyi Makinde whether he was interested in an election or a selection before accepting to chair the commission.

Olagunju, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, revealed this, on Sunday, while speaking at the 2nd weekly Ramadan lecture of the Bodija Estate and Environ Muslim Community.

“I accepted this role only because the governor promised to allow me run a free and fair process,”he said.

He added that he will ensure the Local government elections, which was recently postponed till May 15, is known as the most free and fair Local Government election in the history of the state.

According to him, his decision to ask for the true intention of the governor was informed by the recent trend of arranged elections for Local government officials by state governors across the country
