In Ibadan, Ware House Under Construction Collapses, Neighbours Call Govt Attention

The Babalola family were thrown into mourning on Thursday night as warehouse under construction behind Halleluyah petrol station, Soka on Lagos/Ibadan collapsed, killing a teenager, named Bolaji Babalola while another person, Segun Abajingin was seriously injured.

As the neighbour to the said collapsed warehouse under construction called the attention of the relevant government agencies to the project and the incident that killed the teenager in order to stop further reconstruction of the said structure without proper monitoring.

It was gathered that the owner of the warehouse, simply identified as Alhaji Badmus popularly known as “Omo Alhaja is the Chairman, Drivers’ Union, SUMAL Foods.

It was gathered that the warehouse collapsed on a Mosque and a structure within another compound killing the said teenager and injured the other person.

Speaking with the occupants of the structure where the teenager got killed, Tiri Olaniyan and Kunle Olasunkanmi alleged that this was not the first time the said warehouse would partially collapsed and the owner would continue the construction.

They alleged that since the construction of the warehouse, they have never seen an engineer or monitoring officer from the government agencies.

They further alleged that the owner of the collapsed warehouse was the one supervising the construction since the inception, thus, calling on the relevant government agencies to come to their aid to stop further reconstruction without qualified engineer and government approval.

The incident has been reported at Sanyo Police Station.
