In a landmark moment for sustainable transportation in Oyo State, Jubril Dotun Sanusi’s electric vehicle initiative has ushered in a new era of eco-friendly mobility.
The pilot testing of electric motorcycles, solar-powered tricycles and buses marks the beginning of a transformative journey towards a greener future for the state.
Indeed, the potential for this initiative to revolutionise transportation in Oyo State is electric!
As the three-month pilot testing period commences, citizens of Oyo State can expect to witness the introduction of these electric vehicles into their daily lives.
During this period, the charging points and batteries of the electric vehicles, motorcycles and solar powered tricycles will be tested.
The electric motorcycles, which are silent, emission-free, and cost-effective to operate, are particularly well-suited for short-distance travel, such as inter-neighborhood commutes and deliveries.
The philanthropic gesture of Jubril Sanusi made him to donate two electric motorcycles to the Oyo Park Management System (PMS) for pilot testing while the others will be restricted to Akanran and Olorunsogo. After that completion of the pilot scheme, the others will be rolled out enmass to various communities.
The electric motorcycles, manufactured by Chinese partners, are part of a larger initiative by Sanusi to introduce solar-powered tricycles and buses to the state. The testing phase will not only provide valuable feedback for the manufacturers but also serve as a stepping stone towards a more environmentally-friendly transport system in Oyo State.
According to the Chairman, Park Management System (PMS), Alhaji Wasiu Tomiwa Omolewa, “this is an exciting opportunity for us in the transport sector to explore the possibilities of electric vehicles, motorcycles and solar powered tricycles on our roads.”
Sanusi’s various initiatives in the state have always been receiving widespread commendation and support from stakeholders in the state.
As the pilot testing period unfolds, residents in the state will be optimistic to see not only the positive impact of these vehicles on the environment, but also the benefits to the health, wallets, and overall quality of life of the citizens of the state.
To further enhance the safety and security of the electric vehicles, motorcycles and solar powered tricycles during the pilot testing phase and after, Insurance company and financial institutions will be engaged to provide protection in case of accidents or damages.
This strategic collaboration highlights the importance of comprehensive planning and risk management in the successful implementation of sustainable transportation projects.
