Makinde Receives New AIG, Commends Nigeria Police for Peaceful Conduct During General Elections


The Executive Governor of Oyo State, ‘Seyi Makinde has on Thursday commended the efforts of the Nigeria Police towards achieving a free, fair and credible polls in the state during the last general elections.

The governor, who made this assertion while hosting the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Zone 11 in Charge of Oyo and Osun States, AIG Sikiru Akande who was on a courtesy visit to the Governor’s Office in Agodi Secretariat Ibadan, also pledged to replicate the support given to the State Police Swift Response Squad, SRS, in the first 100 days of his second term in office.


While commending the efforts of CP Adebowale Williams in sustaining the peaceful atmosphere of the state, Governor Makinde pledged to support the intelligence department of Oyo State Police Command with necessary security vehicles in order to strengthen the state security architecture.


“We don’t need to start talking, we are not a noise makers, if we achieve success with elections, all other minor criminalities will be dealt with, and we have a different template with our technological approach to solving problems.

“People of Oyo State should go and sleep with their two eyes closed and be rest assured that the police will be on top of their game,” the AIG added.

In the meantime, other attendees at the event included the Chief of Staff to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, Hon Segun Ogunwuyi, Oyo State Commissioners of Police, CP Adebowale Williams, the State Security Political appointees, among others.
