Oyo State governor, Egnr. Seyi Makinde, on Thursday (Yesterday) approved the suspension of the chairman of Oyo State Waste Management Authority, OYWMA, Mr. Morounfolu Adelore and the board members of the Agency over inability to perform as its duty.

Akéde Ọ̀yọ́ learnt that the pronouncement was made during his 60th Independence State’s address on Thursday. He however lamented the inability of the Agency to effectively carry its primary duty as the State capital is taken over by dirts.

The governor, however, inaugurated an ad-hoc committee to take over the responsibility of collecting and managing waste generated in the state with the provision of skip bins at specific locations across the state pending the time the board of OYWMA will correct its wrongdoings.

Gov. Makinde added that his administration spends N37 million monthly for waste management, for proper cleaning of the streets and other attractive places in the State. He added that OYWMA board allegedly demanded N46 million before it could carry out tasks that are far lesser than that of the waste contractors and evacuators.
