Makinde’s Flag Off Show Of Shame, N100m Donated To Ayu Could Have Done Something In Oyo Town — APC

The All Progressives Congress APC in Oyo state has submitted that it was late for Governor Seyi Makinde to set his priorities right and turn things around for the people of the state who were desirous of good governance, innovative leadership and accountable leadership since he had only a few months left to complete his four-year tenure of office.

Oyo APC stated this in apparent reaction to the Wednesday flagging off of Gov. Makinde’s reelection campaign in Oyo Federal Constituency which comprised of Atiba, Oyo East, Oyo West and Afijio local government areas even as the opposition party condemned the decision of Oyo state government to rehabilitate a magistrate court building and another police station burnt during the EndSARS protests of 2020 with a sum of N578million.

In a statement issued on Thursday and made available to journalists in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, Oyo APC noted that campaign flag off was a show of shame as it was devoid of the usual colour and glamour with which a governor seeking reelection would be welcome in any part of his state, at least, by members of his party.

“Gov. Makinde and his few supporters need no seer to know that their party (PDP) stands no chance at the forthcoming general election for many obvious reasons. First, the governor has no tangible thing he can point at as his achievements in the last 42 months. Or what did he tell the people of Oyo federal constituency he has done to benefit them since he came into office. And to further add salt to the injury of the people, he stormed their domain with hundreds of political thugs and thereby subjected residents to trepidation.

“Few days ago, it was revealed that Gov. Makinde dashed out a whopping N100million to the National Chairman of the PDP, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, and he (Makinde) could not deny this. We cannot imagine what a N100million well spent could have done to improve the lives the people in Kosobo, Ojongbodu, Akunlemu, Ashipa, Eleekara, Akinmorin, Ilora, Awe, Fiditi, Iware, Jobele among others but the governor chose to squandering it as usual.

“Rather than sit up and work on what to do in the next few months to enable him leave office with a semblance of lasting legacy, Gov. Makinde has chosen to raise his game in the area of massaging the ego of his governor colleagues all in the name of fighting the presidential candidate of his party, Atiku Abubakar. The people of Oyo state get to see video clips of their governor dancing to alien musical lyrics while adorning strange attires in company of Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers state and other PDP governors from Enugu, Abia and Benue states.

“Gov. Makinde would spend a day in Ibadan and the next four days in the South South where he serves as the unofficial aide to Gov. Nyesom Wike. Oyo governor and his fellow rampaging PDP governors have now taken their political comedy to a higher level as they now take pride in shooting and releasing video clips of acts recorded while they gallivant, eat, drink, dance, play and dialogue in order to send messages of intimidation to their perceived opponents within the PDP.” Sadare stated.
