Oluyole Federal Constituency: Stakeholders Make U-TURN, As Akeem Olatunji, Deputy Chief of Staff, Others Set For Primaries
The Committee headed by Deputy National Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja on Tuesday approved primary elections to pick party’s candidate in Oluyole federal constituency.
Leaders and other stakeholders of the party in Oluyole local government had picked the Publicity Secretary of the party, Engineer Akeem Olatunji as their preferred choice as consensus candidate. His name was ratified by the screening committee at Oyo Government House, Agodi.
It was gathered that some powerful forces appealed and lobbied the leader to approve conduct of primaries to select the flag bearer for the federal constituency. The request has been granted. Therefore, Akeem Olatunji, Makinde’s Deputy Chief of Staff (Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola) and others will slug out on the field in May, 2022.
Meanwhile, Oniteri who emerged as consensus candidate on Sunday has been endorsed by the committee as the candidate for Ogbomoso North/South/Oriire federal constituency. Wolekanle who is popular among others was present at the meeting yesterday.
In Ogooluwa/Suurulere federal constituency, SMATO’s name has been ratified.
