The Yoruba Nation’s self-proclaimed interim government has issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, threatening war if they fail to release activists arrested for displaying Yoruba Nation flags at the Oyo State Secretariat.
Victor Mobolaji Adewale, the deputy coordinator of the Yoruba Nation agitators and deputy interim president, delivered the ultimatum.
Based in Sweden and serving as the European Coordinator of the Oodua Progressive Union (OPU), Adewale was bestowed the title of Akingbayi Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland in 2020 by Gani Adams.
Adewale emphasized that if Makinde persists in holding their comrades captive, Tinubu’s presidential aspirations will suffer.
He warned, “If Seyi Makinde refuses to release our detained activists, he is inviting war, and Bola Tinubu will bear the brunt of it. Our retaliation will be severe.
“I urge you for the final time, Seyi Makinde must release our warriors arrested in Ibadan. Let them return to the secretariat to pursue their cause peacefully.
If not, Tinubu, you will face consequences. Our message is clear to Tinubu, Tunji Disu, Makinde, Amotekun, and the police: release our comrades immediately.
War looms, and I urge Yoruba people to protest in solidarity. The establishment of our interim government for Yoruba Nation is inevitable.”
