Oyo Lawmaker, Hon. Babajide commends Gov. Makinde 2021 Appropriation Bill, calls for Return of Full Academic Activities in Schools

Oyo State Lawmaker representing Ibadan North Constituency 2, Hon. Adebayo Babaajide , member of the Oyo state House of Assembly urged the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde to return the secondary and primary school academic calendar to its regular arrangement before the outbreak of COVID-19.

The honorable member who made this call while reacting to the budget presentation by the governor on Monday, 23rd November 2020, appreciate the governor for the numerous projects he is embarking on across the State.

This newspaper recalls that in order to curtain the wide spread of novel disease in the State, the government had directed all public schools to run on two shifts per day which makes some set of classes resume school at 8:00am and close by 11:00am while another set resumes by 11:00am and closes by 2:00pm.

Hon. Babajide stated that owing to the reduction of number of cases and the development of vaccines by scientists, it becomes imperative for the Governor to revisit and return the school calendar to its regular form before the outbreak of the virus, adding that three hours is not enough for learning and if normalcy is not returned, it will affect the level of the academic performance of the student because there’s not enough time to cover the syllabus with three hours daily classes.

Conclusively, Hon. Babajide lauded the Gov. Seyi Makinde budget presentation with
the total budgeted sum is ₦266,644,273,305.04. The Recurrent Expenditure is ₦136,262,990,009.41 while the Capital Expenditure is ₦130,381,283,295.63. We are again, aiming for at least 70% implementation of the budget.
