The National chairman South West of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ambassador Taofik Arapaja has been accused of causing division and fanning embers of discord and disunity in the People Democratic Party, PDP, in Ibadan South East Local Government.
The accusation which was made known by the leaders and stakeholders of the party, was contained in a press release jointly signed by Pa. Mudasiru Olaoti, Alhaji Hamed Arapaja and Alhaji Hasan Afolabi on behalf of the leaders and stakeholders of the party.
The group maintained that there was unity and cohesion within the party in the local government before the former deputy governor joined them in 2020. The leaders who were visibly angry pointed accusing finger at Arapaja for attempting to destabilize the party structure during the just concluded ward Congress of the party.
The statement reads in part; ” we held a peaceful ward Congress on Saturday, September 25,2021, which produced all the twelve ward chairmen and all other wards executives in line with the laydown rules and the templates from the State Party Secretariat.
There was no parallel Congress, Arapaja wanted to shortchange the party faithfuls who toiled day and night for the success of the party in 2019 when he was gallivanting from one party to another.”.
The release reads further; ” Arapaja is known for divisive tendencies and this would be resisted by the known leaders that had been nurturing the party ever before he joined, as the record have it that the 2019 election was contested and lost by Arapaja’s ADC both during the federal and state elections. His group never supported or voted for PDP at that time. It is an aberration for him to lay claim to the victory of Engr. Seyi Makinde at the poll.
” the statement concluded. The leaders and stakeholders of the party in Ibadan South East Local Government appealed to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde to intervene in order to salvage the situation and save the party from the Hawks.
