Oyo Police Parade 21 Suspects, Recovers AK-47, Pump Action Rifles, Stolen Toyota Camry, Others

As part of measures to ensure adequate security for life and properties in the state, the Oyo state Police Command has apprehended and paraded no fewer than twenty one (21) suspects connected with various crimes in the state and recovering various items in the process.

The suspects were paraded yesterday, June 2, at the headquarters of the Oyo state Police Command, Eleyele, Ibadan.

This is coming barely three days after the state police command raided, nabbed, and paraded 78 suspected members of the dissolved Park Management System (PMS) in Oyo state and also recovering weapons, assorted charms, mobile phones, cash sum to the tune of (#3,450,000) Three Million, Four Hundred and Fifty Thousand naira.

The State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), SP Adewale Osifeso, who addressed journalists on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Williams, said a team of operatives attached to the Command, on 31st of May, 2023, raided Diamond hotel, Alakia-Isebo in Egbeda, same venue where the 78 were earlier arrested and again recovered dangerous weapons which include guns, cutlasses, expended cartridges, and others were recovered.

The items are 70 round of AK-47 rifle, 400 pieces of live catridges, 13 pieces of 9-MM ammunition, 2 SMG rifle with two magazines, 1 Pump Action rifle, 9 locally made pistols, 2 locally made English pistols with magazine, 9 jacknife, 3 axes, 400 piece of long cutlass, One hammer, one walkie talkie, one army camouflage jacket, one bullet proof jacket, three international passports, criminal charms, and other items.

 

“Sequel to the Strategic Intelligence Coordinated Raid at Diamond Hotel, Alakia-Isebo, Egbeda LGA, Ibadan being the criminal hideout of the sacked Park Management System (PMS) Chieftain, ALHAJI MUKAILA LAMIDI A.K.A Auxiliary on Tuesday 30/05/2023, which led to the arrest of Seventy-Eight Hoodlums and recovery of large cache of Sophisticated Firearms and Ammunition.
Further discreet intelligence gathering revealed that some other sophisticated firearms, ammunition and weapons were still concealed in the hideout.

“Acting on the strength of the intelligence, one 31st May, 2023, a team of Police Operatives attached to the Command Monitoring Unit executed a search warrant around the premises of the above mentioned hotel and in the process; the under-listed exhibits were further recovered.” Osifeso said.

Similarly, the police also paraded a suspect, one Ismail Abiodun (male), age 39 years old who has particularly been on the Command intelligence watchlist for sales and distribution of drugs
was nabbed in possession of drugs and substances suspected to be hard drugs.

“On 30/05/2023 at about 0200hrs, a joint team of several tactical and intelligence operatives of the Oyo State Police Command acting on credible intelligence raided the Diamond Hotel, located at Alakia-Isebo, Egbeda LGA allegedly owned by the sacked Chieftain of the Oyo State Park Management System, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi ‘AKA’ Auxillary.
One of the (78) Seventy-Eight suspects apprehended in the raid, One Ismail Abiodun ‘M’ age 39yrs who has particularly been on the Command intelligence watchlist for sales and distribution of drugs was sighted in possession of loads of banned substances suspected to be Hard drugs during the raid.

 

“He has since voluntarily confessed to the crime, identifying his distribution network and huge clientele base within Lagos, Oyo, Osun and Ogun States.
The suspect would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) upon completion of Investigations. Updates would be provided accordingly, please.” Osifeso added.

Other suspects paraded at the police state command in Eleyele include different groups of armed robbery syndicates that specialize in different criminal operations, and a gang of cultists. Items recovered include a Toyota Camry car, 26 and a half bale of weed suspected to be Indian hemp, 450 wrap of substance suspected to be skunk, plastic bag of nylon containing substance suspected to be ‘colorado’, measuring scales, a motorcycle, locally made guns, and mobile phones, power banks, and other items.

“Consequent on the successes above, the Oyo State Police Command intensified its intelligence gathering prowess in a bid to completely unsettle these criminal elements, hence an immediate intelligence-led raids across various black spots simultaneously within and outside the metropolis was carried out leading to more arrests and recoveries of dangerous weapons and a substantial amount of banned substances suspected to be hard drugs.

“Sequel to this, it has become imperative to warn agents of mischief against peddling ill-conceived narratives about targeted persecutions of the leadership and members of the dissolved Disciplinary Committee of the Oyo State Park Management Systems to so desist from further creating confusion in a desperate bid to garner empathy as these lines of thought are in complete deviations from the realities on ground.

“Worthy of note is that, the Oyo State Police Command is guided by strong professional & ethical values and is statutorily bound by the laws of the land to protect lives and property of residents from individuals or group who make criminal gains from fueling turmoil, disaffection, fear and panic amongst the general public.

 

“While re-iterating the Command’s commitment to deal decisively with any acts of hooliganism, criminal rascality and blatant disregard for the rule of law, the CP assures residents to go about their lawful duties without any form of harassment or molestation from criminal elements.

“So also, the Commissioner of Police has ordered a complete restructuring of the security architecture of the command to immediately nip any emerging threat and to completely subdue evolving ones.

“Moving forward, residents shall witness high octane patrols, intensified stop and search at designated points across the state, continuous raids of blacks pots and criminal hideouts and intelligence led surveillance activities.

“Also, Area Commanders have been given express directives to be proactive and to secure all critical infrastructures within their areas of jurisdiction to include Media Houses, places of worship, Banks, Schools, Correctional facilities and all entry & exit points in and out of the State.” Osifeso stated.
