Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike, and his team in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have arrived Enugu State for a meeting following the ongoing crisis rocking the party.

A source confirmed that the team arrived the Enugu State Government House on Sunday afternoon to continue their discussions on the way forward.

Wike was sighted posing in a picture alongside the governors of Enugu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; Benue, Samuel Ortom; Oyo, Seyi Makinde and Abia, Okezie Ikpeazu.

The five governors and other leaders of the party including former governors have been at loggerheads with the Presidential Candidate of their party, Alh. Atiku Abubakar, following issues bordering on insincerity, unfulfilled promises and lack of equity and injustice in the leadership of the party.

The team in their last meeting held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, opted out of Atiku’s campaign council and vowed not to play any role in the campaign pending the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

The Enugu meeting came a few days after Wike reportedly met with Atiku, who was said to have promised to back him for Presidency in 2027.

Wike had at the weekend received the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi in Port Harcourt.

It was gathered that Obi held a discussion with the Rivers strongman behind closed doors at Wike’s country home in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state capital.

Though details of their discussions were not disclosed, it was gathered that the duo held talks on the forthcoming presidential election.

Obi, who has been shopping for supports across the country, was said to be particularly interested in getting Wike to queue behind him to boost his chances in the Southsouth.

The Labour Party candidate was said to have reasoned that the recent development in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could sway Wike’s support to his favour

Since he declared his presidential interest, Obi had visited Wike three times in Rivers to plead for his support.

The Labour Party candidate, accompanied by former President Olusegun Obasanjo also paid Wike and his team a visit in London to plead for their support.

A source, who spoke in confidence, confirmed that Obi held a closed-door discussion with Wike at the governor’s country home.

“Peter Obi was with the governor at his country home. As usual they met behind closed doors,” he said.
