Stakeholders Fault New List Of LG’s Appointees

The expectations of many stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, Oyo state chapter that Governor Seyi Makinde would right the wrong in respect of the new list of local government appointees seem to have been dashed. Western life news reports.

Recalled that 48 hours after the first list of Special Assistants, Secretaries, Supervisory Councillors of the 33 local government areas in the state was released in November, various interest groups within the party raised eyebrows, and expressed their discontent over the issue

Their complaints led to the withdrawal of the list by Governor Makinde, who promised to look into the matter and do the needful to the satisfaction of everyone.

However, it was gathered that the new list released on Friday did not reflect the yearning and aspirations of many stakeholders.

A source wondered whether the committee set up regarding this issue carried out the directives of the governor.

Reacting to the latest development, former members of the Zenith Labour Party, now fully integrated into the PDP described the new list as falling short of expectations, lamenting the treatment meted out to them as disappointing.

The group said they suspected some foul play about the new list of local governmen functionaries.

In a statement signed by the group’s leader, Comrade Wole Abisoye and made available to newsmen, the group said all other coalitions parties were invited during the compilation of the new list except ZLP.

“We, the former ZLP members but now in PDP just took some decisions at our Stakeholders meeting attended from the 7 geopolitical zones of Oyo State today, December 3, 2021”, the statement read in part.

Abisoye said there are some foul play about the released LG functionaries list.

The statement further read, “ZLP was given 11 positions in the former list, but now reduced to 4 in the new list out of the 52 positions given to ZLP. As a result we are rejecting the positions given to our members.

“We are insisting that the Governor should give us the 7% (52 positions) given to us by Bayo Lawal Committee.

“Henceforth, our Leader, Comrade Wole Abisoye must be invited to any Stakeholders meeting to defend the interests of ZLP.

“We remain in PDP as our political party”, the statement concluded.
