Steadfastness In Faith: Al-Qalam Schools’ Annual Lecture Inspires Muslim Homes Amid Challenges

In the spirit of spiritual enrichment and communal growth, Al-Qalam Schools, a leading Islamic institution in Ibadan, hosted its 8th Annual Islamic Public Lecture on Saturday, the 13th of Ramadan, 1445AH (March 23, 2024). Themed “Steadfastness,” the event aimed to provide guidance and inspiration to Muslim homes amidst contemporary challenges.

Renowned lecturer Professor Ibrahim Uthman, from the University of Ibadan, delivered a thought-provoking lecture titled “Challenges: Liberation for Islamic Homes.” His address delved into the socio-economic challenges facing Muslim households and outlined strategies rooted in Islamic teachings to overcome them.

The lecture drew an esteemed audience, including prominent figures such as Imam Abd Majeed Ahmad, Ajibola, and Alhaji Teslim Omisore, Imam (Alh) Nafiu Agbalaya, Alhaji Qozeem Olatunji, Barrister Abdul’mumin Ajibola Alarape, Alhaji AbdRasheed Lawal, Mallam AbdulMajeed Ajibade, Alhaja Kudirat Aderibigbe, Alhaja M.O Kareem, Alhaja Habeebah Olaiya, among others. Their presence underscored the significance of the event within the Muslim community.

In his welcoming speech, School Administrator Mr. Abd Mu’meen Olalekan Ajala highlighted the global economic turbulence, which has led to societal ills such as ritual killings, kidnapping, and fraud. He emphasized the universality of these challenges, affecting Muslim homes as well. Quoting Quran 8 v 25, he underscored the need for steadfastness in faith as the ultimate solution.

Professor Ibrahim Uthman’s lecture resonated deeply with attendees, who absorbed his insights on navigating economic hardships through Islamic principles. He emphasized the importance of prayer, Quranic teachings, and Islamic upbringing in maintaining resilience. He also urged affluent Muslims to practice generosity and for spouses to exhibit understanding and tolerance during trying times.

Alhaji Chief Daud Arotayo echoed Professor Uthman’s sentiments, emphasizing the paramountcy of prioritizing Allah in all aspects of life. He commended the organizers for their initiative and foresaw the lecture’s positive impact resonating in Muslim households.

Mrs. Ushwat Titilope Okunola, a guest, stressed the importance of patience and tolerance in preserving happiness within Muslim homes, echoing the lecture’s themes.

Chairman of the Ramadan committee, Mr. Soliu Badmus, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming turnout and generous donations, acknowledging the collective effort to enrich the community spiritually.

The event concluded on a note of optimism, with attendees fortified in their commitment to remain steadfast in faith, embodying the resilience and unity essential for navigating challenges in contemporary society.
