YORUBA/HAUSA CLASH: Olubadan Holds Stakeholders Meetings, Calls For Calm

The Olubadan of Ibadan; Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji has counselled all warring groups in the ongoing tribal clash at Sasa, Ibadan to sheathe their sword and embrace peaceful co-existence as he hinted that peace is worth more than war.

Oba Adetunji, during a virtual meeting with relevant stakeholders which included Hausa/Fulani representatives, bemoaned the spate of Insecurity in the Ibadan.

The First-class monarch advised all truly born citizen of Nigeria to eschew violence and desist from stoking the embers of war which may degenerate into unnecessary civil war.

Oba Adetunji said: “many of our compatriots have been living with each other for a long time. We grow up and attend schools together. People from diverse ethnic groups do intermarry and give birth to lovely children.”

Oba Adetunji made it known that the incident at Sasa which resulted in the destruction of properties is rather surprising as the warring parties have been close neighbours.

He said, “Immediately the report of the crisis got to us in the palace yesterday, the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde was the first person I called and we have his promise that appropriate action would be taken as sinners would not go unpunished.”

The King thereby admonished the state Governor, Seyi Makinde to look into how the victims of conflicts can be compensated.
