168 Persons Displaced By Sango Police Barracks Building Collapse – NEMA

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has declared that no fewer than one hundred and 168 people have been displaced as a result of a building collapse at Sango police barracks in Ibadan.

 

The agency explained that a total of 28 flats were affected.

The agency made these declarations in a statement made available to Newsmen on Sunday.

 

SOURCE gathered that one of the buildings within the Sango police barracks in Ibadan collapsed on Saturday.

The police barracks is located within Ibadan North local government.

The block of flats according to sources collapsed yesterday evening.

NEMA has, however, said that no fewer than one hundred and sixty eight persons have been displaced as a result of the incident.

South West Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, Mr Saheed Akiode made this disclosure via a statement made available to AKEDE OYO.

 

He described the rescue operation as a successful one.

Akiode said, “Over 168 persons displaced. The operation was successful evacuation activities is still ongoing. No casualty was recorded at the scene, 2 storey building collapsed with a total of 28 flats was affected.

“The NEMA South West Zonal Office received a distress alert at about 6.00pm on Saturday 22nd April, 2023 of a collapsed building at Nigeria Police Barrack block 11, Sango, Ibadan.

 

“The Zonal Coordinator Swiftly activated the Federal and State Fire Service and other response Agencies to the scene of incident. The ZC coordinated the rescue operation and the evacuation of the building and the surrounding buildings”.
