Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has called on residents of Ibadan North Federal Constituency to turn out in large numbers and vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as “DON,” in the upcoming bye-election scheduled for August 16, 2025.

The governor made the call on Monday during the official campaign flag-off at Bodija Main Market, Ibadan, where he described the election as a crucial opportunity to reaffirm Oyo State as a PDP stronghold.“

Let me tell you that this forthcoming election is very important because we all need to prove that Oyo State is a PDP State,” Makinde said. “Our candidate, Folajimi ‘DON,’ has a proven record. He served as an honourable member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and did not disappoint. I later appointed him as my Deputy Chief of Staff because of his competence and good track record. We know he will deliver in Abuja.”

The governor urged residents to campaign vigorously for the PDP from ward to ward and house to house, emphasizing that electing Folajimi would ensure quality representation and attract visible development to Ibadan North.The flag-off event witnessed a massive turnout of party faithful and supporters.

Dignitaries in attendance included Deputy Governor Barr. Bayo Lawal; former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarunmi; lawmakers representing Ibadan North Constituencies I and II, Hon. Adebayo Babajide and Hon. Olufunke Comforter; Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Adeniyi Kazeem Bibire; and State PDP Secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke.

The rally was seen as a major show of strength by the PDP ahead of the crucial bye-election.
