The Oyo State APC Progressives Movement on Tuesday held its monthly meeting at the Black and White Law Firm, Oke-Bola, Ibadan, reiterating its commitment to strengthening the All Progressives Congress (APC) structure across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State.
The meeting, which traditionally holds every last Tuesday of the month, brought together party members and leaders from across the state with a renewed resolve to consolidate party unity and mobilize support toward winning the Oyo State governorship and other elective positions in the 2027 general elections.
Declaring the meeting open at exactly 11:45 a.m., the Chairman of the Movement, Elder Femi Abiola, charged members to remain steadfast and focused on the collective vision of repositioning the APC in Oyo State. A motion to commence proceedings was duly moved and seconded, after which Alhaji Alobo from Iseyin and Iyaafin Bola Adeniyi from Afijio offered the opening prayers.
The Secretary of the Movement, Hon. Caleb Oyaniyi, thereafter read the minutes of the previous meeting, which were unanimously adopted by members. The Public Relations Officer, Hon. Alhaji Ruffy Adepoju, anchored the proceedings.
In his remarks, Oloye Lowo Obisesan appreciated leaders and members across the board for their dedication and thanked Almighty Allah for the successful conduct of the recent APC Ward and Local Government Congresses. He invited newly elected ward and local government executives present at the meeting to stand for recognition, drawing applause from the gathering.
Obisesan charged the newly elected officers to work diligently in strengthening the party’s grassroots structure, expressing confidence that the APC would record overwhelming victories in future elections. He emphasized that the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu would surpass expectations, stating that the President’s mandate would be renewed with even greater support. He further expressed optimism that the party would emerge victorious in the governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Assembly elections across Oyo State.
The meeting also witnessed the arrival of a special guest, Hon. Dr. Kazeem Abimbola Abogun from Ibadan North West/South West Federal Constituency. Oloye Lowo Obisesan warmly welcomed him and encouraged his consistent participation in the Movement’s activities, urging him to work closely with party leaders to advance the collective agenda. He subsequently invited Hon. Abogun to the podium to address members.
In his speech, Hon. Abogun commended the Progressives Movement for its growth and resilience, describing it as a pillar of the APC in Oyo State. He applauded members for their unwavering commitment to strengthening the party and formally declared his ambition to contest for the Ibadan North West/South West Federal House of Representatives seat.
Responding, the Vice Chairman of the Movement, Chief Hon. Dijo Ogundiran, welcomed him into the Progressives Movement family and offered words of counsel and encouragement as he pursues his political aspiration.
As proceedings drew to a close, the Chairman invited Alhaja Raji from Iseyin Local Government and Pastor Ayodele Lanre to offer the closing prayers. In her brief remarks, Alhaja Raji urged members to remain persistent and committed, assuring them that brighter days lie ahead for the Movement and the APC in Oyo State.
The meeting was formally adjourned at 2:30 p.m.
