The Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Special) Oyo, Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan, has officially stepped down from his position as he prepares to pursue his political ambition ahead of upcoming elections.

Olaniyan’s resignation, which takes immediate effect, was conveyed in a letter addressed to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). He explained that his decision aligns with legal provisions requiring political appointees with electoral aspirations to relinquish their offices before participating in party primaries.

In the letter, the former council chairman expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, describing his tenure as both a privilege and a fulfilling experience.

He also commended members of the governing council and the institution’s management for their support and cooperation throughout his time in office.

As part of a smooth transition process, Olaniyan recommended Barrister (Mrs.) Inime Aguma to serve as Acting Chairman of the Governing Council, citing her competence, dedication, and strong understanding of the institution’s operations.

The resignation has been formally acknowledged, with official confirmation from the Office of the Registrar of the college, dated March 23, 2026.

Olaniyan’s exit signals a new political chapter for the former Oyo State deputy governor as he positions himself for the next phase of his public service journey.
