The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, has announced the appointment of Adesola Adeduntan as the new Balogun of Oyo land.
Adeduntan takes over the highly respected title from the late Victor Omololu Olunloyo, a renowned mathematician and former Governor of Oyo State whose legacy remains deeply rooted in the history of the state.
After years away from public attention following his tenure as Managing Director of First Bank of Nigeria, Adeduntan is set to make a symbolic return—this time, not in corporate leadership, but in traditional service.
His installation is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Oyo town, where he will formally assume the role of Balogun under the authority of the Alaafin.
For the Ibadan-born technocrat, this moment represents more than recognition—it is a return to cultural roots and a transition into a role that carries deep historical and communal significance in Yoruba land.
