UI VC Saga: Workers Locked University Gate, Protest over Planned Imposition of Adebowale As New VC

The University of Ibadan main gate is currently locked by the workers of the Institution who are protesting over an alleged plan to forcefully impose Prof. Kayode Adebowale as the next Vice Chancellor following the tenure expiration of Prof. Idowu Olayinka.

Akedeoyo.com had earlier reported how multiple petitions have been written by two major contenders, alleging the current Vice-Chancellor, Professor Idowu Olayinka is ‘putting no stone untouched to ensure the emerged of his anointed candidate, Adebowale.’

The protesters who held different placards with inscriptions such as “Impose Adebowale and shut down UI for six years, ” “we shall never work with Alatise again among others”. They were also chanting protest songs like ‘we no go gree oo, we no go gree, Imposition we no go gree.

The protest was set to have connected with the recent shortlist made by the selection Council where Prof. Kayode Adebowale made the list.
