The governorship candidate of Accord in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has decried the level of insecurity in the state under the watch of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Adelabu was reacting to the alleged killing of a 10-year-old boy in Igboora, headquarters of Ibarapa Central Local Government, by an agent of the Mukaila Lamidi-led Park Management System (PMS) in a statement issued by his campaign office, on Tuesday.

The Accord governorship candidate lamented the rising insecurity in the state and called for justice for the slain minor. He also expressed his deep condolences to the family of the deceased, praying Allah to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The former deputy governor of Central Bank of Nigeria said under the Governor Makinde administration, acts of terrorism, robbery incidents have taken over the state, while the administration seems helpless in tackling the menace.

He faulted the state government’s calm disposition to insecurity in the state with hoodlums having a field day and harassing peace-loving residents.

Adelabu, who drew a sharp contrast between the Senator Abiola Ajimobi-led administration and that of Makinde in terms of security the state enjoyed in the last administration, reiterated his commitment to a secured Oyo State if elected governor.

He vowed to leverage on his experience as Chairman, Oyo State Security Trust Fund Board of Trustees, in combating insecurity head-on when he becomes governor.

Speaking on the recent threat to his life and those of his supporters on his way from a tour of Oke Ogun, the Accord governorship candidate called for issue-based campaigns rather than politics of acrimony as displayed by the alleged thugs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin.
