In swift response to last night’s explosion in Bodija Estate, the Oyo State Government has taken immediate action to provide temporary shelter for the displaced victims. The affected individuals have been moved to Calton Gate and Palms 77 hotels in Agodi, Ibadan.

Furthermore, the government has established an Emergency Situation Hub, spearheaded by Deputy Governor Barrister Bayo Lawal, to efficiently manage and coordinate assistance for those impacted by the explosion. Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, encouraged affected individuals to visit the Housing Corporation premises in Bodija, Ibadan, providing verifiable evidence of losses for necessary government intervention.

The government assured that temporary accommodations have been arranged, and hospital bills for the injured will be covered. Registration of victims has commenced at the situation hub, with emergency and disaster experts offering assistance.

As investigations unfold, the state government is narrowing down on potential causes of the explosion. New evidence points toward the storage of explosives by illegal miners in the area. The impact of the explosion extended to structures of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies at the State Secretariat, reaching approximately 15 km. Governor Makinde, having previously deployed significant military resources to address illegal mining in the state, is determined to unravel the circumstances behind the incident.
