Delta 2022: Oyo Shines in Taekwondo, Para Table Tennis With Gold Medals

Team Delta added four more gold medals to their haul as they completed a clean sweep of the team’s events in table tennis at the ongoing 21st National Sports Festival in Asaba.

In Taekwondo, Oyo won its first gold medal in the sporting fiesta after Haruna Usman was adjudged the best performer in the Poomsae demonstration.

The trio of Tunde Adisa, Abiola Adesope and Mide Jaiyeola combined brilliantly to deliver Oyo State’s second gold medal in the men’s team para table tennis event.

According to NAN, the hosts mopped up gold medals in the men’s and women’s team table tennis events at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on Friday.

In the women’s team event, Delta defeated Oyo 3-0 in a one-sided match in the final.

The quartet of Rashidat Ogundele, Fatima Bello, Ajoke Ojomu and Aminat Fashola were ruthless as they dispatched their opponents.

In the men’s event, Delta scraped a 3-2 victory over Ondo in the final. The hosts also won gold two golds in para-table tennis.

In the hearing-impaired category, Delta also took gold after a 3-0 victory over Lagos in the women’s singles category.

Team Edo was not left out in the medal haul as they won their first gold medal in the 500 metres sprint cycling.

Isa Momoh finished as the best rider in the category to claim the medal for the state.

Ogbomo Aisosa also won the silver medal in the Dart 501 men’s singles for the state, after a 1-3 loss to Abia in the finals.
