Idris Ajimobi, the son of the late former governor Abiola Ajimobi, has been appointed as special adviser (special duties) to Jibrin Barau, the deputy senate president. It is worth noting that Barau is a loyalist of Umar Ganduje, the former Kano governor and Ajimobi’s father-in-law.

Idris Ajimobi was previously the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan South West state constituency 2. Unfortunately, he lost to the candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Alongside the appointment of Idris Ajimobi, Barau also announced the appointment of several other individuals. Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdullahi will serve as Chief of Staff, Professor Bashir Muhammad Fagge as Special Adviser (Policy & Monitoring), and Ismail Mudashir, the Deputy General Editor of Daily Trust Newspapers, as Special Adviser (Media & Publicity).

Furthermore, Barau named Yusuf Aliyu Tumfafi as Special Adviser (Political), Mrs. Ngozi Ndawi Nkemdirim as Special Adviser (Administration), and Shitu Madaki Kunchi as Special Assistant (Media & Publicity).

Prior to his appointment, Prof Muhammad Ibn Abdullahi held the position of Head of Department, Education, School of Continuing Education at Bayero University Kano (BUK).
