Laboratory Research Technician I

Job Specifications:

    • Full Time
    • Required Qualifications: OND – BA/BSC/HND

Job Description:

    • Assist in tissue culture laboratory, screen house and field research activities related to plantain breeding.
    • Assist with performing tissue culture and microscopy operations, data collection and processing.
    • Ensure sterile environment practices, orderliness of lab, screen house and work environment.
    • Assist in maintaining of stock and inventory for germplasm and laboratory items.
    • Participate in research data collection, entry and processing.

  • Assist in supervising casuals in daily assigned tasks.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • National Diploma in Agriculture or any other related field with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.

  • Have excellent interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.
  • Attention to detail combined with good self-motivation and self-organizational skills.
  • Have a positive attitude and strong team spirit.
  • Have experience working with banana tissue culture techniques.
  • Have ability to work with digital devices for data collection and reporting.
