Research Supervisor

Job Description:
- Provide technical support on implementation of PROSSIVA banana research activities in Nigeria, with a focus on Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) technology, seed health and quality assurance.
- Assist with field sample collection and processing for AMF isolation, purification, characterization and mass production.
- Assist with the AMF priming of plantain seedlings, efficacy trial design and management in screen house and field conditions.
- Ensure nematode propagation using carrot discs for inoculum preparation for trials
- Ensure trials troubleshooting and data collection (spores’ density, mycorrhization index and plant growth parameters, nematode count) using digital tools.
- Perform data curation and data analysis and provide trials output.
- Contribute to research on quality assurance schemes and seed health management.
- Perform any other job-related task as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- BSc/HND in Crop protection, Agronomy or any other related field with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.
COMPETENCIES:

- Have excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Have report writing skills.
Research Technician

Job Description:
- Assist with set up and maintenance of experiments to improve banana/plantain propagation in tissue culture laboratory, macropropagator and screenhouse.
- Assist with the production of plantlets for Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) priming experiments.

- Perform routine data collection from laboratory, screen house, and field experiments using appropriate data capturing tools.
- Maintain experimental plants in the laboratory, macro propagators, and screenhouses in optimal condition and ensure the cleanliness of all working areas.
- Supervise casual workers for the implementation of assigned tasks.
- Perform any other job-related task as may be assigned by the Supervisor
Qualifications and Requirements:
- National Diploma in Agriculture or any other related field with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.
COMPETENCIES:
The ideal candidate must:
- Have excellent oral and writing communication skills in English.
- Have the ability to use basic Microsoft software (word, excel, PowerPoint).
- Have good experience in data collection.
