LG Poll: I’m Still In Ido Chairmanship Race, I Didn’t Endorse Anyone – LG Secretary, Hon Bambam Reacts

The Secretary of Ido Local Government area of Oyo State, Hon Bamidele Lawal (Bambam) has said that he is still in contention for the number one seat.

Hon Bambam who is a frontline chairmanship aspirant in the local government was reacting to online media reports that he alongside other stakeholders have endorsed Sheriff Adeojo, declaring the report as untrue and the figment of the writer and sponsor’s imaginations.

The PDP chieftain said it became imperative to address the report as much as he is not ready to join issues with anybody but due to some concerns of party faithfuls regarding the report where his name was mentioned to have endorsed another aspirant.

The Council Secretary stated that as a loyal party member and staunch supporter of Governor Seyi Makinde, he would abide by the decisions of party leaders adding that any stakeholders meeting where the local government party chairman is not available is a sham and charade.

“I have been inundated by phone calls , insinuations and rumours that I have endorsed Sheriff Adeojo for this all-important position in our local government is a fallacy that lacks logic.

“Truly and as directed by Governor Seyi Makinde, we held a stakeholders meeting at the council secretariat today (Monday). The party chairman, Hon Ayuba is still in Saudi Arabia where he had gone to perform this year’s Hajj.

“The purpose of the meeting was to settle differences among the groups within PDP in Ido of which only few members turned out for the meeting.

“You can imagine stakeholders meeting in which party chairman is not around, our assembly Hon is not around and other notable leaders, how can anyone be endorsed?

“Endorsement of any aspirant was never discussed. I was baffled when notable people in our council started calling to challenge me on why I dropped my ambition for another aspirant.

“I am in the race for the chairmanship position of our local government because of my strength of character, capacity and competence. My intentions are clear and explicit for the public good rather than self-interest.

“In as much I respect the aspiration of Hon Sheriff Adeojo who is a vibrant young man but that doesn’t translate to jettisoning my longtime ambition to serve my local government.”
