… Commends Governing Council, Management

Governor Seyi Makinde has, on Tuesday, commissioned lecture rooms at Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa during his consultation tour to Ibarapa region of the state.

The program, which took place within the premises of the Institution, had in attendance the Governor, members of State Executive Council; Oyo South Senatorial candidate of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Joseph Tegbe; Oyo State Speaker, Debo Ogundoyin; Governing Council Chairman, Prof. Abiodun Ojo; Management of the Institution led by the Ag. Rector, Dr. Gbade Akinteye; Deans of Faculties; Directors of the institution’s Directorates; Heads of Departments; Student Union leaders; members of staff and students.

Speaking at the programme, the Governing Council Chairman, Prof. Abiodun Ojo, passionately appreciated the Governor for his unending support for the institution, love for education, and passion for the development of Oyo State.

He said: “I am using this medium to welcome Your Excellency to this great Institution on behalf of myself, Council members, Management and staff of this Institution. What we are doing today is a reflection of your love for education sector in Oyo State.

“Sir, the population of our students keeps increasing on a yearly basis. It is on this note that we solicit more infrastructure and more qualified staff for the progress of the Institution.”

The Ag. Rector, Dr. Gbade Akinteye, also acknowledged the good works of Engr. Seyi Makinde and his undiluted love for education sector.

His words: “On behalf of the Governing Council, Management, staff and students of this Institution, I humbly welcome you to our campus and I appreciate your uncommon gestures. Obviously, this is the first time that a sitting Governor will step into this Institution and we are very excited to receive you today.

“I equally appreciate your quick decision to constitute and inaugurate another Governing Council following the lacuna created by the dissolution of the previous Council. Since the inauguration of the new Governing Council, the Institution has been enjoying relative peace and that is why the entire Management, Staff, and Students are in attendance to welcome you to our Campus. I appreciate you once again and we will be glad to host you here again next year before the General Election.”

The Student Union Chairperson, Com. Adebayo Yetunde, also appreciated Engr. Seyi Makinde, Governing Council, and Management of the Institution for their quick response to issues.

She urged the Governor to approve the recruitment of more qualified staff for the Institution.

She said: “I am delighted, honored, and elated to stand and address the Governor of Oyo State at this august gathering. I appreciate you for building Students Union Building (SUB). I also want to remind you of the last meeting where you promised us a Student Union bus. It is my belief that the promise will be fulfilled very soon, Sir.

Sir, I don’t want to address you as ‘Your Excellency’. Rather, I would talk to you as our Daddy. Sir, it interests me to bring to your notice that some parts of our school fence has collapsed due to erosion and students are not happy with the situation.

“Sir, I want to appeal to you to help us renovate the already collapsed structure to improve the security of the Institution. Also, the rate at which lecturers are decreasing every year is so alarming even when the number of students admitted each academic calendar continues to increase. This has negatively affected the lecturer-student ratio.”

While responding at the program before the official commissioning of the buildings, Governor Seyi Makinde, commended the efforts of the Governing Council and Management for putting up the project through thier Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

“Let me commend the Governing Council and Management of this citadel of learning for putting up this laudable project through your IGR. Prudence is what can get us out of the hole and put us on course. Education is one of the major pillars of this administration and we are going to do more under Omi titun 2.0.

“I have heard the requests of the Students Union President and the broken fence will be fixed under special intervention from the Governor’s Office. We will, in due course, ensure that you have a stable academic calendar.” He concluded.
