Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has on Thursday reinstated the effort of the State government to re-award the Akobo-Ojurin road, which according to him, was mismanaged by the contractor engaged by the last administration. He made this known on a State’s broadcast in commemoration of 60th Independence anniversary of the Country.

Gov. Makinde hinted that the road would soon be re-awarded to another contractor that would effectively handle the contract for the benefit of the people.

The Governor pleaded with the people to exercise patience whenever they noticed that expected dividends of democracy are slower in coming. He added that democracy is still much preferred compared to Military government.

Recall that in June 2020, the governor promised to re-award the road to another contractor, but on Thursday, he noted that one of the disadvantages of the system is that it must follow due processes, which slow down decision-making.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that the governor, shortly after the State Broadcast, also led other Oyo State Government functionaries on a Walk, which started from the Arcade of the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan.

Governor Makinde said that the country has got some things right in the last 60 years, noting that the current democratic experience is one of the positives that must be maintained and nurtured to maturity.
