The one time Commissioner for Finance and Oyo South Senatorial hopeful, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi has responded to corruption allegations levelled by the Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde, regarding N7b Paris Club Refunds from 2017 and another N13b purpotedly missing in a Commercial Bank in 2014.

The Governor had named a Company as being behind the missing Paris Club refund and some uncompleted Roads, but did not name an “official of a Commercial Bank” behind the missing N13b from 2014.

Adekanmbi advised the Governor to name the “official of the Commercial Bank” the same way he named the Company involved in the Paris Club monies that was purpotedly moved to the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSTROMA) and stolen.
He said this while featuring as a guest on a radio show hosted by the phenomenal Edmund Obilo on Saturday. He went further to debunk the allegations of fraud and financial misappropriation leveled against the previous administration and urged Governor Seyi Makinde to imbibe the culture of regularly putting facts and names to his claims. He asserted that the burden of proof is on him.

Governor Seyi Makinde had alleged the Abiola Ajimobi led government of depositing a certain fund totalling N7Billion into OYSTROMA even when the Agency did not have a history of receiving such a huge fund. He further accused the previous government of hurriedly withdrawing the same within the span of one year and put on an invisible project.

But in a swift response to the allegations, the one time Finance Commissioner and global financial expert, Adekanmbi argued that Budgets voted to MDA’s are justified and defended prior to funds allocation and that Contractors have a responsibility to carry out Projects.

As to the missing N13b from 2014, he charged Makinde to name the banker who oversaw the disappearance of the money in question and save the state from needless assumptions.

He assured the Governor of his readiness and availability should he require additional insights into the Governor’s claims.
