Ogundoyin Poly Students Protest Excessive Remita Charges By Makinde’s Consultant “Platinum Consultant” (PHOTOS)

Students of the Ogundoyin Polytechnic Eruwa has yesterday lend their voice over what they tagged as “Excessive Remita Charges” levied on them by the state government consultant “Platinum Consultant”.

The students who complained over the incessant charges said it doesn’t matter how many times you make payment,the said amount will be charged per every transactions, they the students carried out.

While we agreed that we should be charged a particular amount, the fact still Remains that what we are meant to pay is just too Exorbitant for students that we are, one of the students who speak on Condition of anonymity with our reporters said.

The students were seen burning tires while the main entrance to the Institutions was under lock, as the time of the protests which lasted for hours.

Recall that this Akéde Ọ̀yọ́ had also reported the same excessive charge complaint made by various Institutions in the state, just last week The Polytechnic Ibadan also gave Ultimatum to the State Government to Sack it’s consultant or they go on a warning strike.

Silent by the state government over the said consultant activities, is a pointer that the state government is aware of the said allegations but kept numb over the issue.

Meanwhile last month during one of the quarterly media chart with the governor Engr Seyi Makinde, when asked about the complaints of various Institutions, the Governor was quoted to have said ” Despite the pandemic and economic melt down in 2020, we still thrived in our state. This was achieved by blocking loop holes and leakages in our expenditure. In Ibadan Polytechnic, they have saved N1 billion, I have told them they should invest it in capital projects”.

For the students complaints the state government might look into the matter soon, as for the Lecturers complaints, the Governor Engr Seyi Makinde have been able to explain in clear terms that since the introduction of the consultant “PLATINUM CONSULTANTS” loopholes and leakages in the state owned tertiary institutions in terms of expenditure have been blocked, resulting in massive savings of over N1Billion within the shortest time.
