In the wake of Oba Lekan Balogun’s passing, attention turns to Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the Balogun of Ibadanland, as the prospective next Olubadan of Ibadan.
According to OYOINSIGHT.COM, the transition is imminent, with palace drummers slated to move from Alli-Iwo to Ọba Olakulehin’s Ita Baale palace to symbolize his ascension.
The late Oba Balogun’s demise paves the way for Olakulehin’s potential elevation to the revered position. Notably, Olakulehin’s son, Sunbo Owolabi, previously served as commissioner for water resources during the administration of former governor Abiola Ajimobi.
Following the customary Olubadan succession hierarchy, Rashidi Ladoja, former governor and senator, stands next in line as Otun Olubadan of Ibadan, leading the civil line.
The forthcoming transition is poised to trigger advancements within the Olubadan system, particularly within the Balogun line, from which the new Olubadan will emerge.
