The Governor of Oyo state, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has ordered immediate recruitment of no lesser than 1,500 persons into the Amotekun Corp in Oyo state.

The governor made this disclosure while speaking on Tuesday at the House of Chiefs at the state Secretariat in Ibadan with conveners and members of #EndSARS protest.

Makinde while highlighting his administration’s plans to arrest youth unemployment in the state reiterated that his government will ensure judicious disbursement of the initial N500 million earmarked for all victims of police brutality and EndSARS protest.

He explained that the EndSARS agitation was a product of a long perceived injustice by victims of police brutality noting that it was for that purpose his government made sure that benefiting from the funds is not limited to only victims of EndSARS protests but all victims of police brutality.

The governor stressed that the other N500 million earmarked for youth empowerment via Micro Small and Medium scale Enterprise (MSME) is particularly designed to capture all youths in the state with entrepreneurial skills and initiative.

Makinde however stressed that security issues especially the EndSARS protest should not be politicised or ethnicized under any guise as the struggle was a collective one by all Nigerian youths against leadership laps in government bad governance.
