The administration of Governor Seyi Makinde under Omituntun 2.0 has started on a good note.

This was as the state government sets an unprecedented record on Thursday as it organized a town hall meeting that brought together all the worrying factions of Road Transport Unions in the state, Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, ACOMORAN and other stakeholders in the transport sector sued for peace and promised to work together for the success of the present administration.

The main purpose of the meeting was to chart a new cause and an all inclusive approach for the Park Management System (PMS) in Oyo State, after the Mukaila Lamidi, aka Auxiliary led PMS disciplinary Committee was disolved recently.

Among other relevant stakeholders that attended the meeting were Security agencies.

In his address, the Chairman of the event, Professor Duro Adeleke in his address sued for peaceful co-excistence among the transport Unions in the State, noting that there can never be relative peace if the union members are divided.

While presenting a paper on the way forward to solve any unforseen crisis in the Public Transportation business in the state, a transport management expert, Dr Supo Ogunesan, commended governor Seyi Makinde for establishing PMS, saying that the system must be well organized and coordinated in order to achieve its objectives.

In their various responses, factional leaders of the unions who attended the Townhall Peace Meeting, described the step taken by Governor Seyi Makinde as Unprecedented, pledging to bury their hatchets and work together to achieve unity of Purpose.

Alhaji Tokyo, Alhaji Abideen Ejiogbe, Alhaji Hamidu Lukman (Weere), Olowogeesi, Olowooposi, Baba Bola, Tommy among others extolled the leadership qualities of Governor Seyi Makinde saying that this peace meeting brought together various stakeholders in the transport sector that had not set eyes on one another for the past five years owing to irreconcilable differences .

The assured that the reformed Park Management System under new leadership would work for the peace, progress, unity and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state.

Earlier in their separate remarks the leaders of the security agencies in the state, the Police, Army, DSS, NSCDC and FRSC read riot acts to the unions, saying that nobody is allowed to cause chaos in any of the motor parks and no one among the drivers, motorcycle and tricycle operators is allowed to bear arms ammunition and dangerous weapons adding that anybody found would be made to face wrath of the law.

Also speaking, former Deputy Governor and deputy national chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Taofiq Arapaja, former Chief of Staff, Chief Saka Balogun, Senator Hosea Agboola, ALGON Chairman, Hon Sikiru Sanda, urged all the unions to embrace the all inclusive policy of Governor Seyi Makinde noting that all interest will be taken care of.

 

Other dignitaries at the event were, Otunba Seye Famojuro, Mogaji Abduljelyl Karheem Adanla, ALGON Chairman, CP (Rtd) Odukoya, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi, Chairman of PDP Chairmen, Alh Adelere Lukman Adedimeji, Oyo State PDP PRO, Engr Akeem Olatunji , Baba Ashipa Ismaila, Hon Adeyinka Adeniyi, Hon Akeem Ademola Ige among others.

In a related development, the leadership of all the warring factions on Thursday evening paid a thank you visit to Governor Seyi Makinde.

The Leaders were received by Otunba Seye Famojuro on behalf of the Governor and treated them to a warm reception. They promised to comply with the rules and regulations guiding the formation of PMS in the state.
