A member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Shina Peller, has debunked rumour doing the rounds that he’s nursing governorship ambition against 2023.

Peller, representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola federal constituency stated emphatically that his preoccupation remains how to return to National Assembly in 2023.

Peller disclosed this on Saturday after revalidating his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at his Koso ward 9, unit 8 polling unit in Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The federal lawmaker expressed joy that many people took the party membership registration seriously going by the turnout recorded so far, adding that it’s a good development in Nigeria’s political history.

“What I have is interest and commitment in what I do, I would like to clear the air now that I, Shina Peller, I am not interested in running for the seat of governorship come 2023. Any position in government is not the cloth that you put on but service to the people.

“I believe that my service is needed more in the legislative arm of government where we would be able to position like-minds strategically because there is an opportunity for the government to transit in 2023 since we would not have an incumbent president contesting as stated in the constitution.

“I’m here to encourage more young people like me to floor the National Assembly and the State Assembly, that is what I’m interested in and for any position that I want to contest for, definitely, it’s my party that will decide for me.

“My people definitely need my service to protect them, to fight for them and make myself available in the legislative arm of government also in 2023. “I’m saying that I’m not interested in running for the governorship seat in 2023.

“As you can see, it’s peaceful because the will of the people within the party has been done. Democracy is all about the people, It’s a government of the people, made by the people and for the people and the only interest to protect democracy is the people’s interest,” Peller said.
