Tragic Auto Crash Claims Lives of Three Oyo Monarchs, Leaves Nine Injured

Three traditional rulers hailing from Oriire Local Government Area in Oyo State tragically lost their lives in a fatal car accident that occurred on Friday.

The incident involved a collision between a Benz E230 with the license plate OLODOGBO and a commercial Scania Truck registered as 301 XF at Aje Iye in the aforementioned local government area.

Two of the monarchs sadly passed away at the scene, while the third monarch succumbed to injuries a few hours later at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, where he was rushed for medical attention.

Eyewitnesses recount that the affected passengers, including the monarchs, were en route to a social event in a nearby community when the accident took place. Out of the six passengers involved, three survivors are currently receiving treatment at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.

The deceased monarchs have been identified as the Olodogbo of Odogbo, the Onibowula of Bowula, and the Alayetoro of Ayetoro in Oriire Local Government.

Joshua Adekanye, the state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, confirmed the incident, describing it as a head-on collision between a private and commercial vehicle on the Ogbomoso-Oyo Expressway.

The survivors are currently undergoing treatment at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue.

Additionally, the Sector Commander also reported that a truck caught fire on the Ogbomoso-Oyo Expressway on the same day, resulting in burns for nine out of the thirteen individuals present.

Fortunately, no lives were lost, and the injured victims are presently receiving medical treatment at a hospital.
